Plot
Four bodies are found in New York City. Why, why, why? The coincidence? They all died 48 hours after logging on to a site named feardotcom.com. Tough detective Mike Reilly collaborates with Department of Health associate Terry Huston to research these mysterious deaths. Movie Trivia
The name "Dr. Gogol" is written on the subway wall in the first scene. This is a reference to Mad Love (1935), another film about a mad surgeon.feardotcom.com is/was the address of the movie's official Web site.
The glass cases containing body parts from House on Haunted Hill (1999) make an appearance.
The 'mutilated' bodies in Pratt's apartment are real bodies, transformed into art by the German sculptor Gunther von Hagens.
Polidori, the doctor played by Udo Kier, shares his name with the surgeon to Lord Byron who was present on the night that Mary Shelley came up with the idea for "Frankenstein". Dr. Polidori was also a character in "Frankenstein the True Story" - 1973... also starring Michael Sarrazin. Sarrazin refers to the Polidori character in both films as "Polly Dolly" , and in both films Polidori was killed by electricity.
The basis of the movie is a woman who has hemophilia. Although this is generally a condition which affects men, there are documented cases of female hemophiliacs.
Movie Goofups
Continuity: As Terry's boss is walking to his car, he takes out a cigarette and shots skip randomly between him putting the cigarette to his mouth, the cigarette being in his mouth, and there being no cigarette at all.Continuity: When Terry is looking at the papers and her nose bleeds there is a spot of blood below her nostril, in the next shot there is no blood at all.
Continuity: During the interview with Turnbull's wife, the cigarette ash becomes shorter, without her knocking any ash off.

Mike: Yeah, I got hope. I hope my first shot blows your fuckin' head off!
Mike: That's evidence!
Mike: He tortures them until they beg to die.
Alistair: How enticing the smell of cheap perfume can be... or is that fear?
Alistair: You can end this lesson whenever you wish... just ask me to kill you.
